The effectiveness of preventive maintenance practices and the application of predictive maintenance technologies have been well documented and long-accepted by most maintenance organizations. However, not all realize their desired reliability goals – often falling well short.

A common source of program shortcomings is the failure to recognize that there is not a “one size fits all” maintenance plan. Best practices and OEM recommendations must be evaluated within the context of a facility’s actual equipment usage, environment, workforce capabilities, resources and the equipment criticality.

• Maintenance information – compile in-house maintenance-related information and work instructions from OEM and third-party sources, available best-practices, and Infralogix maintenance library.
• Reconcile – review and highlight conflicting, inconsistent or unsubstantiated practices.
• Work order analysis – review work order history, including reliability impact and costs, to determine compliance and effectiveness of plans and identify any disconnects with equipment criticality.
• Recommendations – identify opportunities to optimize effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance efforts while maximizing reliability performance.
• Implementation – develop and format plans for upload into CMMS (or other maintenance systems), provide training and support materials, such as documentation, labeling, etc., and facilitate transfer of plans into CMMS.
• Summary report – overview of work effort, list of equipment with associated PM’s highlighting any changes, and status of each record.
